Family and Child Centered Investigation Course

Goals of the program

The main theme of the course is to induce child-friendly investigation skills in investigating officers and as a refresher of all related laws and court procedures for investigating cases related to minors and families.


Outcomes of the program

Apply the rules and regulations of the Police and Constitutional Laws

Identify the procedures followed by the Family, Juvenile, Criminal Court, Family protection authority and the Juvenile Justice Unit

Identify the priorities and issues of concern that matter most between Maldives Police Service and Prosecutor General’s Office.

Possess a thorough understanding of CRC

Understand the different stages of child/adolescent development and the issues faced in the Maldivian context

Tackle child offenders and victims of abuse appropriately

Exercise child-friendly interviewing skills.

Entry Requirements

Have completed investigation officer course and;

Have a clear record within the past two years or;

Must be employees from Law and Gender, Juvenile Justice Unit and PG office who are working in related units.
