The comprehensive career pathway at ISLES offers you various paths of specialisation. It is designed for those who wish to pursue an academic pathway, or a vocational pathway or a combination of both.
All new recruits and employees of prison service, immigration, private security firms, ports authority and the Maldives Police Service would have to complete the Certificate IV in Security and Law Enforcement Studies.
Certificate IV in Security and Law Enforcement Studies is a very comprehensive and intense training programme comprising of operational and academic trainings required for officers of the law enforcement and security sector.
Should you not to meet the minimum entry requirements for Certificate IV in Security and Law Enforcement Studies you can take the Foundation Studies for Security and Law Enforcement Training offered by ISLES or later join the Certificate IV in Security and Law Enforcement Studies once you have acquired the minimum requirements. All ensuing trainings at ISLES require the student to complete Certificate IV in Security and Law Enforcement Studies.
Once you achieve the Certificate IV in Security and Law Enforcement Studies, you have career options in the prison service, private sector security firms, tourism sector security related fields, immigration and related government etc.
Those wishing to pursue pure academic trainings can choose the Bachelors Degrees offered by the by the Faculty of Leadership and Management (FLM), and the Faculty of Crime and Justice (FCJ). The degrees are designed in a very flexible way. If your work and family commitment do not allow you to pursue the full degree you can acquire an exit point qualifications such as the diploma and associate degree in the degree programmes offered by ISLES. For instance if you choose to end or halt your studies after the first year of your degree programme, you can be conferred a diploma in your chosen field. Similarly if you opt to halt or end your studies after completing two years of the degree programme you will be conferred an Associate Degree in your chosen field.
Prospects after the completion of bachelors degree in Law Enforcement and Security Studies includes

Those who chose to further their career in the operational domain of the security sector and be in possession of a higher education qualification you can opt for Diploma in Security and Operational Studies offered by the Faculty of Security and Operational Studies (FSOT). This can be achieved by:
- - directly enrolling in and successfully completing the diploma programme in one sitting (continuous); or
- - by successfully completing required operational trainings and academic modules over a given period of time.
CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR LICENSE
After completion of the Diploma in Security and Operational Studies you can directly apply for Certified Instructor License. If you are already an instructor of one or more fields of training offered by ISLES you can apply for ISLES Certified Instructor License. You may, however, need to complete some operational and academic modules before you are awarded with the ISLES Certified Instructor License. You can apply for instructorship for the following fields

- - Operational Safety and Tactic Instructor (police, immigration, and prisons)
- - Physical Fitness Instructor
- - Public Order Response Instructor
- - Special Weapons and Tactics Instructor
- - Defence Tactics Instructor (police, immigration, and prisons)
SECURITY OFFICER SUPERVISOR
Those wishing to further their career in the private sector security industry can do so by completing the Diploma in Security and Operational Studies. After the diploma you can apply for Security Officer Supervisor qualification. Based on evaluations made by ISLES and your supervisors and with a minimum of three years experience of on the job training you can be eligible for Security Officer Supervisor qualification.
CERTIFIED PRIVATE SECURITY PROVIDER LICENCE
If you are an enthusiastic entrepreneur or wish to test your entrepreneurial skills in the security sector, you can start your own security firm by obtaining the required government recognised licence through ISLES. If you have successfully completed the Diploma in Security and Operational Studies and the Diploma in Leadership and Management you can apply for the Certified Private Security Provider Licence. You may need to provide proof of evidence of your experience as a security officer supervisor or as a security officer.
Existing private sector security entrepreneurs will have to complete specific modules offered by ISLES before they can be granted the Certified Private Security Provider Licence.
CERTIFICATE III INVESTIGATION OFFICER TRAINING
The Certificate III in Investigation Officer Training or Foundation Studies in Investigation Training offered by the Faculty of Crime and Justice (FCJ) is especially tailored for the regulatory, enforcement and investigative bodies of the government and independent agencies such as: Human Rights Commission; Anti Corruption Commission etc, to function as a launch pad for entry into the National Diploma in Investigation and Detective Training. This is only for new recruits of these agencies and those who do not meet the minimum requirements of the National Diploma in Investigation and Detective Training. Private individuals can apply for this training.
Existing officers can directly enrol into the National Diploma in Investigation and Detective Training. The National Diploma in Investigation and Detective Training is a very intense and comprehensive training. To pursue a career as an investigation officer or a detective in the Maldives you will have to have the National Diploma in Investigation and Detective Training. Those who wish to specialise in various investigative fields will also have to complete this diploma.
After completion of the diploma your career prospects as an investigation or detective includes but not limited to:
- - Homicide Investigation Specialist;
- - Narcotics Investigations Specialist;
- - Fraud And Commercial Crimes Investigation Specialist;
- - Forensic Investigation Specialist; and
- - Family And Child Protection Investigation Specialist
